I wasn't looking for an article that would spark a fire in me, nor was I looking at Austin news.  I was simply looking for something to talk about and boy did I find it!   According to MSNBC this morning, today, in our beautiful city that is becoming more and more everyday an oasis of liberty in this vast land of conservative bullies (Texas), there is a bill being voted on that will, in my opinion, suffocate women's rights.  Governor Rick Perry, in all of his republican frat boy glory, would kindly like Texas abortion doctors to perform a sonogram on pregnant women before they are allowed to perform the procedure.  Oh, and that's not the end of it ladies.  While you are looking at the sonogram, the doctor will be required to show whether or not the fetus has arms and legs, and then you will get to hear the heartbeat.  After that quick and pain free process, you must then sign a simple piece of paper saying, "Yes, I heard the heartbeat and saw the fetus' limbs.  Now I still would like to move forward with the abortion."  It's that easy!  For those of you who don't know me yet, this is my sarcastic voice!  Who do these people think they are?  This is no more than yet another way to try to pressure, nay, guilt women into not having an abortion.  It's not anyone's decision but the woman whom has to live with the decision.  Either way she goes, she is the one that will forever have to look in the mirror every day. I think people tend to forget about that.  The cause is so focused on the fetus, the mother tends to be forgotten.  Even mothers that choose to have their children, doesn't mean the decision was easy, nor the outcome.  I urge you to read this article, whether you are pro-choice, pro-life or pro-apathy.  Either way, it is sure to spark something in you!  It worries me that if this bill gets passed, other parts of the country will jump on board.  Women have a right to choose in this country.  It is a right our fore-mothers fought very hard to obtain.  I hope their presence is felt at the capital today!
